On Safari

Up at 6.30am on yesterday 7th January and away with Terry our driver on safari. We stopped after about 2 hours for breakfast and then drove for another hour on dirt tracks to the game reserve at Inverdoorn. We saw the big 5 – elephant, rhino. cheetah, lion and buffalo – we also saw zebra, ostrich, springbok and giraffe. We were allowed to get out and photograph the giraffes. Jaws IV at the Cape

3rd January Went for a tour yesterday to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. Our first stop was Hout Bay where we went in a boat to see seals and dolphins. We then went to Noordhoek and over to Kalk Bay (where we heard some great Jazz) via Muizenberg where we spoke to the shark watcher and while we were there they had to clear the water when a shark was spotted. Happy New Year from Camps Bay

Paul my grandson was the last of our party to arrive on 30th December. The weather is beautiful and we sat outside while we waited for Paul having a long chat with my son and son in law about our outlook on later life! Shetlanders chicken out

    Saturday 29th December Up early to a bright sunny day and feeling a bit sore from too much sun. My son Brian arrived at 1pm from Rio via Paris and London and after relaxing by the pool we went to the beach at Camps Bay. Only Donald, Euan and Lewis went into the sea. Ian Gray – Getting ready to go to Cape Town

Marina and I flew down from Shetland to Edinburgh on the 21st December on the first leg of our trip to Cape Town and my son in law Donald picked us up at the airport.
