Shetlanders chicken out

Saturday 29th December

Up early to a bright sunny day and feeling a bit sore from too much sun. My son Brian arrived at 1pm from Rio via Paris and London and after relaxing by the pool we went to the beach at Camps Bay. Only Donald, Euan and Lewis went into the sea. Donald said all the Shetlanders chickened out and the Longniddry folk showed us up. Today we caught the red bus to Cape Town and went to the Waterfront and then a market in the centre where Marina bought me a hat. We returned by the bus up to table mountain and back to Camps Bay. After a barbecue and drinks at Dolphin Crest Villa went to bed at 10.45pm and read for a short time before falling asleep.

Here is a picture of two of my grandchildren with a statue of the great Nelson Mandela at the Waterfront and one of me with Donald outside Mitchells Scottish Pub.

Aahhhh … am dying here freezing to death: get sooo homesick seeing those blue cobalt skies. What great pictures – I haven’t seen that statue before – specially the one of you and Donald. Enjoy my country Ian!!!! I want to be there too!!!!
